The effect of bone bank preservation on the calcifying mechanism.

چکیده
A fundamental orthopaedic problem to-day is the understanding of the fate of bone transplants. Since homogenous preserved bone is increasingly used, this study investigated the survival of the calcifying mechanism under storage conditions typically employed in preserving homogenous bone for orthopaedic use. It was our hope that the method might be used to indicate the relative value of the various means of preserving bone. The enhancement ofthe value ofthe preserved bone used in transplantation by reactivating the calcifying mechanism presented another subject of inquiry. Calcification in vitro of the hypertrophic epiphysial cartilage of rachitic rat tibiae was employed in this study. This method is a useful indication of “ local factors “ involved in calcification. The appearance of new calcification depends on the functioning of the complete system essential for mineralisation. This method is a valid one for the purpose of this investigation, for the histological appearance of calcification in vitro of the hypertrophic epiphysial cartilage resembles that obtained in calcification in vivo. New mineral deposits occur in the matrix and have a honeycomb-like structure. X-ray diffraction studies have shown that the new mineralisation obtained has the same lattice for calcification in vitro as that found for calcification in vivo, namely apatite (Sobel and Hanok 1952).

Although aneurysmal bone cysts and calcifying odontogenic cysts accompanied with other lesions are reported in the literature, the simultaneous occurrence of these two distinct lesions has not been reported. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first report describing co-occurrence of these two lesions located in the left mandibular ramusin a 36-year-old woman.

متن کاملA Study on the Effect of Granular Residual in the Banking Network on the Transmission of Monetary Policy through Lending Channel
Granular residual is created in the banking network when there are a few large banks with many small banks. In this case, the effect of the shocks on each bank not lost in total that can lead to macro-economic consequences. The transmission of monetary policy through change in bank facilities is one of the key mechanisms affecting monetary policies. The power of transmission of monetary policy ...
متن کاملReview of Effect of Storage Time before Freezing on Stem Cells Surveillance, Collected from Cord Blood, Peripheral Blood and Bone Marrow
Introduction: The use of cord stem cells, as a cell source for bone marrow reconstruction in patient under hematopoietic stem cell transplantation is enhancing. The amount of CD34+cells collected from cord blood compared to peripheral blood and bone marrow are less, but their collectionprocesure is easier. Delay in freezing has negative effect on cells surveillance and reduce their ability in ...
متن کاملSocket Preservation Using Freeze-Dried Bone Allograft with and without Simvastatin in Rats
Background and purpose: Today, implant treatment is one of the most popular dental treatments. To have a successful long-lasting implant treatment, enough bone is needed in that area. Given the positive effects of simvastatin on osteogenesis, this research aimed to compare the effect of freeze-dried bone allograft with and without simvastatin in extracted tooth socket in rats. Materials and me...
